Well family the results are in! As David Buckner mentioned at the family reunion, He submitted his DNA to “African Ancestry” the largest and most comprehensive database of indigenous African DNA samples. I submitted one sample to determine the lineage of my mother, Emily (Parker) Buckner for the MATRICLAN (Maternal Lineage Test) which analyzes the mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) of women and men, which are inherited exclusively from their mothers. Based on the results, we that are connected to the Parker lineage, are descendants of the Tikar people of Cameroon.
He also submitted one sample to determine the lineage of his father, David James Buckner Sr. for the PATRICLAN (Paternal Lineage Test), which analyzes the Y chromosome DNA that men inherit exclusively from their fathers. Based on the results, we that are connected to the Buckner lineage, are descendants of the Mbundu people in Angola today.
The members of the family that are both of Buckner and Parker parentage, this information will answer most questions we may have of our ancestral heritage. The family that has one parent Buckner or Parker, these results will unlock half of your story. You can use these results to build upon as you endeavor to do further research.
